I realize I've been absent a lot lately, see my previous post for more information on that, but so long as Hurricane Irene doesn't knock out my power this weekend, I should be able to implement new features into Folder Axe and release what will likely end up being version 6.0. In addition, I'm still working on the new program I mentioned in the last post. Progress is coming in short bursts as I teach myself some new concepts. But again, I hope to have a release of Folder Axe for you later this weekend or early next week! Have a great day, and for any of you in Hurricane Irene's path, I pray you all come out unharmed!
Hey everyone, sorry about the lack of updates recently. Some of you may have noticed that while I released an update for Folder Axe, it wasn't pushed out to any download mirror sites.
Let me just apologize in advance for the next number of months. In addition to the problems I've had with my development software the past few days, which lucky for me cleared up today, this Thursday will be the beginning of a new school year for me, which obviously means less time to program. Don't worry, I'm not going to give up, nor will I stop replying to emails, but I would like to make it clear that most of my time will probably be eaten up by school. So, please be patient with me. But like I said, this doesn't mean I'll be quitting, so continue to email with ideas.
In addition, I have an idea for a new program. I'm not sure whether it'll pan out or not though, so I'll keep details to myself. If I get close to something good, I'll let out a bit more about it.
Alright, to all who use my programs, thanks for the support! Please understand that though my life is again getting busy, I have no plans of abandoning bkPrograms. Thanks to all, and have a great day!
Just a small update here today. A few users have contacting me asking if Folder Axe has limits in how many files it can process, because to them it appears to be frozen. Let me say to all that there are no limits in Folder Axe. What may be happening is that you may have selected a directory with a mass number of files, and Folder Axe may be taking a while to obtain the needed information about all of the files. Or maybe you're accessing files that are on a remote server, which would make communications slower.
Whatever the case, for version 5.2 I've decided to add a progress bar so that you can see the progress of what Folder Axe is doing if it appears to be frozen. Just so you know, the progress bar sometimes won't keep up with Folder Axe, so in most cases, you may not see the progress bar do anything because Folder Axe has already completed what it was doing and cleared the progress bar faster than the human eye can register. This is normal. I hope this helps those of you who use Folder Axe to process a large amount of files. Enjoy Folder Axe 5.2!
Folder Axe 5.1 is now available. In version 5.1, the only visible change is that I've added the ability for you to change the date format for the By Date split type. (What I mean by this is that you can change how it appears on the resulting folders.) Other than that, I've done a bit of code cleaning, so hopefully Folder Axe will perform faster! Here's a link to the Folder Axe Changelog. I hope you enjoy version 5.1!
Folder Axe version 5.0 has just been released! In version 5, there are various bug fixes, some behind the scenes performance improvements, and most importantly, I've added support for subfolders! I knew I'd get around to it at some point, but within the past week, I've had five people ask me about subfolders, so I decided to take a number of hours today creating the feature and making sure it worked out. Most of the time I spent was really just working out old bugs I had on my list, and then fixing new bugs resulting from the subfolder option. But, I did get it done! To those five people who contacted me (and any of you who didn't) regarding subfolders, I hope that now Folder Axe meets your needs! Enjoy version 5.0! Here's the complete changelog for Folder Axe. (Due to life, I won't be releasing the new version to all of the various software download sites until tomorrow, sorry!)
